It takes a parent
Parents are the solution, not part of the problem. Perhaps in 2008 our legislators will get it and pass HB121, Del. Lingamfelter's bill that is focused exclusively on mental health services, in light of the tragedy at Virginia Tech.. It passed the House 88-10 on January 29, 2008.
That our legislators don't understand that parental involvement is also important for these other health issues is pretty pathetic, as a Tidewater columnist noted in this column.
Parents' Right to Know
We strongly support requiring that government medical personnel communicate with the parents or guardians of minor children within two days of providing services related to sexually transmitted diseases, emergency contraception, pregnancy, illegal drug use or the contemplation of suicide.
